Weekend at Columbia Island Marina, parking and boat rental advice
I want to surprise my parents next week. They're coming to visit, and instead of dragging them around in the heat to see memorials on foot, I decided to rent a decent boat. We'll take a relaxed cruise along the Potomac and enjoy views of the Pentagon and the Lincoln Memorial. There’s just one practical concern: We're planning to bring lots of bags containing food, blankets, and folding chairs. I'm worried about how close we can park to the piers. I read that you can rent a boat there through GetBoat, but I’m not sure if there could be any issues with Columbia Island Marina parking. We'll be there on Saturday morning, and I'm worried the marina will be packed with tourists. For those who go there on weekends, is it realistic to find a parking spot close to the boats so that we don't have to carry all of our things across half of the island? Also, is there a decent café or shop at the marina where we can buy ice and other small items?
