Random map curiosity
Yesterday my friend showed me how his phone could roughly tell where a call was coming from and I got curious. I always thought numbers were just numbers with no location tied to them. Now I’m wondering how phone number geolocation actually works in simple terms, can you explain?

I used to think the same, like a phone number is just random digits. Then a while back I kept getting calls from an unknown number and tried to figure out where it was from. Turns out geolocation usually isn’t exact GPS, it’s more about country codes, carrier info, and sometimes network data, so it gives a rough area, not a точка on a map. I even checked one through GEOfinder out of curiosity and saw how approximate it is. Still pretty interesting once you dig into it a bit.
